FIRETEX®

Cellulosic PFP

For buildings, hospitals, airports and civil structures - passive protection against conventional fire with FIRETEX® FX6010 and FX5062 coatings.

What cellulosic fire is

Cellulosic fire is the most common type of fire - caused by the ignition of solid materials such as wood, paper, fabric and plastic. Its heating curve follows ISO 834, with temperature reaching approximately 900°C after 30 minutes. It is the dominant risk scenario in commercial buildings, hospitals, shopping malls, airports, hotels and civil structures. Passive protection against cellulosic fire is required by code in any building with a steel structure - and the minimum fire resistance rating varies with the building's use, its height and its fire load.

Products

FIRETEX® FX6010 and FIRETEX® FX5062

Water-based · Cellulosic intumescent

FIRETEX® FX6010

Water-based intumescent coating for protecting steel structures against cellulosic fire. Excellent aesthetic finish - suited to projects where the steelwork remains exposed.

  • 30 to 120 min fire ratings depending on thickness and section factor
  • Water-based - low VOC, suitable for application in enclosed spaces
  • Surface finish compatible with decorative topcoats
  • Airless spray or brush application depending on required thickness
Solvent-based · Cellulosic intumescent

FIRETEX® FX5062

Solvent-based formulation with higher moisture resistance for environments exposed to the weather - suitable for semi-exposed structures.

  • 30 to 120 min fire ratings depending on the specified system
  • Higher resistance to humidity and weathering vs. water-based
  • For internal structures with occasional rain exposure
  • Compatible with a wide range of anticorrosive primers

Applications

Typical applications

Steel structures of commercial and corporate buildings

Hospitals and clinics requiring high fire ratings (≥ 90 min)

Shopping malls, hotels and large buildings

Standards and compliance
