Cryogenic PFP

Protection against thermal shock from cryogenic spills - for LNG plants, terminals and storage facilities operating at extremely low temperatures.

The most extreme risk: –162°C

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is stored and transported at –162°C. An accidental spill releases a fluid that vaporizes instantly on contact with surfaces at ambient temperature - creating a violent thermal shock that can fracture carbon steels, compromise welds and destroy conventional coatings in seconds. If steel structures are unprotected, the result is catastrophic structural collapse. The FIRETEX® Cryo Range cryogenic coatings were specifically formulated to absorb this thermal shock - maintaining the structural integrity of the steel until the cryogenic fluid evaporates and the risk is under control.

Products

FIRETEX® Cryo Range

Certified cryogenic range

FIRETEX® Cryo Range

The Cryo Range comprises certified formulations for protection against spills of LNG and other cryogenic fluids.

  • Withstands –162°C thermal shock without cracking or detaching from the substrate
  • Maintains adhesion after cryogenic exposure - no delamination during or after the event
  • Acts as a thermal barrier that slows heat transfer into the steel
  • Compatible with epoxy primers and topcoat finishes for simultaneous corrosion protection
  • Verified to EN 1363-2 and DNV / Bureau Veritas requirements for LNG facilities
