Oil & Gas
From extraction to distribution, coating systems developed for the most aggressive environments in the O&G chain.

The industry's most demanding environment
Few operations combine so many degradation factors at once: marine chlorides, dissolved H₂S and CO₂, temperature swings, immersion pressure, mechanical abrasion and constant UV exposure. Coatings not developed specifically for these environments fail ahead of schedule, driving maintenance costs, unplanned shutdowns and regulatory risk. At Sherwin-Williams P&M we understand every link in the O&G chain and specify protection systems suited to each service condition, with products verified to ISO 12944, NORSOK M-501, NACE and AMPP.
Value chain served
From extraction to distribution

Upstream
Offshore platforms, wells, manifolds, exploration and production structures.

Midstream
Onshore and subsea pipelines, compressor stations, terminals and pump stations.

Downstream
Refineries, petrochemical plants, process units, storage tanks.

Terminals
Import and export terminals, piers, LPG spheres, finished product tanks.
Recommended applications and systems
Each asset in the O&G chain has its own combination of chemical aggressiveness, service temperature and regulatory requirements. The systems below cover the main demands:
Offshore structures and splash zone
Zinc-rich epoxy primer + high-build Dura-Plate® intermediate + Sher-Loxane® topcoat. C5-M system per ISO 12944.
Storage tanks - exterior
Tank Clad® as a high-build intermediate + Sher-Loxane® polysiloxane as a UV and weather-resistant finish.
Storage tanks - interior
Tank Clad® novolac or Dura-Plate® 235 for immersion in hydrocarbons, solvents and chemicals. System certified for the service temperature.
Buried and subsea pipelines
High-adhesion epoxy primer + high-build coating with cathodic disbondment resistance. Compliant with pipeline standards.
Refineries and petrochemicals - structural
Zinc-rich primer (Zinc Clad®) + Macropoxy® 646 intermediate + polyurethane or polysiloxane finish according to the corrosivity category.
High-temperature equipment
Heat-Flex® Hi-Temp for surfaces operating above 120°C, resisting thermal cycling and oxidation.
