Technical Support

Our technicians are on site — before and during application — to make sure the specified system goes on correctly, from the first coat to the last.

Applicator rolling coating onto a steel beam at an industrial site

Coating performance starts at application

A coating system can be perfectly specified and built from the best products available — and still fail if surface preparation is wrong, if the DFT falls below spec, or if temperature and humidity during application go unmonitored. P&M's technical support exists precisely to remove those variables.

Our engineers and field technicians know the products, the systems and the application standards in depth. More than inspectors, we work as technical partners to the applicator and the site manager, resolving non-conformities before they turn into problems.

Scope

What Technical Support covers

Surface Preparation Inspection

Checks on cleanliness grade (Sa 2½, Sa 3), roughness profile (Fine, Medium, Coarse) and salt contamination — per ISO 8501 and SSPC.

DFT Control

Dry film thickness measured coat by coat and checked against the system's total DFT — with calibrated instruments and acceptance criteria from ISO 2808 and ISO 19840.

Environmental Condition Control

Air and surface temperature, relative humidity and dew point monitored — so application conditions stay inside the product's specification.

Non-Conformity Resolution

Application defects found and resolved — blistering, sagging, cracking, poor adhesion — before the system is closed out and the problem is buried.

Technical Reports and Records

Application reports issued with photographic records, DFT readings, ambient conditions and conformity against the specification — documentation for audit and warranty.

Holiday Testing (NACE SP0188)

Film discontinuities detected in tanks, pipelines and immersion structures — a mandatory requirement in NACE and ISO specifications for high-risk service.

Applicability

When to request technical support

P&M technical support is recommended — and often required by specification — on:

  • Projects with long service-life systems (over 10 years) in C4/C5 environments
  • Tanks and immersion structures — where holiday testing and DFT control are mandatory
  • Sites where the applicator has no proven track record with the specified products
  • Offshore or petrochemical projects with NORSOK or NACE requirements
  • FIRETEX® system application — where thickness determines the fire resistance period
  • Any project where premature failure would carry serious operational or safety consequences

LATAM

Technical support coverage across Latin America

Our technical support team is based in Latin America's main markets — with field capability in every country the division operates in:

  • Brazil — team distributed across industrial regions (SP, RJ, MG, RS, PR, BA, PE)
  • Chile, Peru, Argentina — technicians for large-scale and mining projects
  • Colombia, Mexico — focused on O&G and Manufacturing
  • Ecuador, Uruguay — on-demand support for specific projects

For large projects outside the regular coverage area, check with our team on travel availability.
